She Dreams in Blue

She Dreams in Blue (sequel to "The Pawnbroker's Stepdaughter")

The tiptoes on the bedroom floor
These quiet eyes are spinning in the dark
The secret wish that none will know
She keeps it locked up in her pale heart

Wait for it, it's tired and it's true
Wait for it, it's all she ever knew

    She dreams in blue
Wait for it, it's all she ever knew

The background hum of city streets
And whispers from the neighbors intertwine
The distant glow of beacon lights are
Breaking through the cracks between the blinds

Wait for it, it's hiding out of view
Wait for it, it's all she ever knew

    She dreams in blue
Wait for it, it's all she ever knew

She opens up her weary eyes
The foggy cloud of vision fills the air
She strains to make some sense of all the
Abstract shapes and colors everywhere

But all the blue just fades away dissolving in a haze of grey
And lost inside her empty mind is everything she tried to find
And all the blue just fades away, she lost it in a haze of grey

    She dreams in blue
Wait for it, it's all she ever knew

Hmm. This is a tough one to explain. Start with E-A-D-F#-A-E.
Then put a capo on the first fret.
Then put another capo on the third fret,
but rig it so that only the bottom four strings are clamped (leave the A-E on top open).

Are you serious? 2 capos?

Thats insane! Leave it to J Woodward to come up with that one. Thats interesting. I can't wait to come back this winter and hear this one live, but better yet.. see it live!

is definitely one of my favorites. I love the way you write all your minor key songs.. Those dark acoustics always win my heart :)

this is my favorite song by Mr. Woodward besides Shadows in the moonlight =]

I think it would make more sense to just use one capo and tune in E|A|D|Gb|G|D.

That'd give the same sound if you strummed the strings without fretting anything, but it'd make the song much harder to play. The top two strings, when you fret them in a double-capo situation, are a full step higher. That makes the cluster chords that this song uses a lot easier to play, but also gives me easy reach to the higher notes on the top two strings (they'd be two frets higher with one capo).

Not a versatile tuning, but it definitely makes this easier (watch how little my fretting fingers move).

I would really love to learn the guitar of this song, anywhere I could find some kind of tab or guideline? x

Good question, I haven't been able to figure out how to tab this one out since it's so weird. I think I'll make a video to explain it. Stay tuned :)
