poll Should I make live videos?
Yes! Do it!
A good idea, but I probably wouldn't watch.
No. It's lame and/or a waste of time.

I've been batting around an idea for awhile. My YouTube presence is weak at best. While comfortable with writing, performing and recording, my video skills (and budget) are non-existent, so proper music videos aren't happening anytime soon. Would anyone be interested in seeing me record live guy-and-guitar versions of my songs here at home? Do you watch these when other artists do them?

I would love this. For the same reasons that live performances are fun, it's fun to watch videos. If I find a song that I really like, I go to youtube to see if someone's put up the music video for it, a video of a live performance, or some other visual recording of the song.

Ha yeah dude! It'd be awesome! I saw just a couple of your videos on Youtube yesterday (like "Sugar On My Tongue").

You should totally do some live at home stuff. It'd be sweet. Maybe create a little background, and make it like a little acoustic set/ kinda thing.

I say go for it!

You should go for something like this:

Hi Josh, Matt McGuire here from
I'd definitely watch those videos. Once in a while I record performance videos using my crappy webcam and send them to my poor unsuspecting friends. I'd say record two or three videos and put them up, and just see how they do. You can decide from there how far you'd like to go down that route.

don't hesitate! if you figure out that I discovered your existence via the iLike-plug-in on Facebook.. Straight out of my chair here in Belgium! That says a lot about the power of digital channels. Keep it up!
