It's coming up on homecoming season. Here's a new song called "The Parade":
I got a great guitar tone by using the old Amplitube trick with the Tele in the mid pickup position, so I went with that. A second instance joins in during the second verse. The bass was done the same way.
There are two Absynth instances. One joins in during the second verse, and has a sound with a vague chord in the background, but then it makes all kinds of spacy noises. The second one comes in with a flute-like sound during the solo. The new Kontrol49 keyboard I'm using (more info on that later) let me give it a lot more expression than I used to be able to do.
The drums were programmed using Abstrakt. I wanted to leave a boatload of space in the mix for the pads to swarm around, so I chose short and glitchy sounds to leave space.
I did a number of odd (for me) things in this mix. The main one is that I use reverb. I wanted a clean and expansive sound, so I killed my usual vocal delay and used reverb instead. Everything except the bass has some verb, and some of the instruments are swimming in it (especially the keyboards).
