About The Song

The Fight: Winner out of 25 Entries

Yeeeehaw! This is my first country song. What else are you supposed to do with this title? :) As tongue-in-cheek as it was, it turned off a lot of the reviewers. Not enough to kill the squeaker of a win, though! This is a damn fun song to play live, by the way. :)

Reviews

Sven Mullet:

YEEEEEEEEE-HAW! This needs a fiddle and steel guitar ;) Sounds good, except I hate country music.

Drew K:

the verses kinda remind me of merle. I thought some of the lyrics sounded contrived. the melody aint bad though.

Jon Eric:

WheeeeeEEEEE Doggy! I hate country and western music, but damn this was funny. [good]

Abecedarian:

Damn good narrating voice. Fun song, but the chorus grated on me.

The Sober Irishman:

We seem to have a flood of country enthusiasm here, cuased in part by the poll I started. You really like hicking the word 'her,' don't you? The spoken parts don't do it for me. The one exagerrated chorus around 2:00 is a very nice touch. Good overall.

Sven Mullet (2):

More of that yee-haww twangy pseudo-western stuff. I'll bet you're from, like New Jersey or something. New Wave Of New Jersey Country/Western Music, or NWONJCWM for short. this is done pretty well, in any case. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's not good.

Blind Meme:

Violet seems to be leaving home rather than going home mostly, but this is very, very well done. The clock line is great too. Really like the washtub band sound.

John M:

Good production, good instrumentation and performance. Vocals are very well done. Unfortunately, though, this song is entirely too simple. If you had some kind of powerful sweeping bridge or something to break the monotony of always going back and forth between the two sections. Lyrics are a bit weak, but it isn't terribly noticeable because of the excellent vocal work. This is kinda reminiscent of Lucky Ball & Chain in some parts, come to think of it. Great performance of a song that could use some work.

Bortwein:

Very catchy, fun and interesting. Good song.

Hoblit:

Congrats on your win and thanks for a great song this week too. This is a novelty song but it's nice. Great execution of instrumentation and vocal delivery combined with excellent production value. It's a little week because of it being sort of a country novelty song. It's right in between real folk and a weird al song. I like it and I'm downloading it. Thanks for contributing a good song in a great fight.

it seems like this title inspired a lot of country songs. I love the voice and the lyrics. the bridge of the song is frickin' great... you're an excellent guitarist. the lyrics don't quite measure up to the absolute crudity of the ifpo+mojo song, but for the sheer talent demonstrated here, I think I would rate yours higher.

Chucky:

I like your last one better. The country twang on "her" and "high" turned me right off from the start. I know it's supposed to be like that, but I just can't stand country like this. Nice beat though; I want to hear you do a rockabilly tune.

Mo:

the production is fine. the song is kind of not that interesting to me. i mean, it's kinda funny and sounds ok, but nothing really grabs me, partially because the music isn't a new take on 1-6-4-5 and partially because the spoken vocal doesn't really bring me in. your song last week was more engaging to me.

Lonbobby:

Farmer John sings about Violet. Or maybe a Chevrolet commercial. Some SUV commercial, out West. Cool.

Vinyl Boy:

Not a big fan of southern inflection. I like the speaking interludes. Actually, possible vote on this one.

Peabody:

peabody still hates you for your nice song for the last fight. peabody hates you a little less for making a countryish song. and yet-- it is a NICE countryish song. therefore, peabody's hatred for you grows back to normal size. which is to say, a lot. but will it be enough to warrant a vote? who knows? excellent production. it is funny, especially the clock part. excellent mix. and catchy drums. you almost break the passionometer for rating so high, but it is ok, because it is a fun passion.

Niveous:

points off for the being the person who says "her way or the highway". It's a cute li'l rockabilly tune and the mace thing made me laugh. I don't have a lot to say about this one. It wasn't spectacular and I didn't loathe it. 50/50.

Eddiebangs:

Great song- Great Production- Very entertaining. Nice job man! A

Jack Shite:

it's really good. i just wish you hadn't mucked it up with the hee haw. the mix and execution is great and i think if you'd just kept it honest, i'd like it better. killer bass whoevers playing it.

Johnny Cashpoint:

Totally torn 6 ways - Hoblit, Josh Woodward, Doctor Worm, Jack Shite, Ifpo & Mojo & fluffy porcupine, you all get shiny rosettes, in my book. Frick!

Adjuster:

The inflection in the word "her" actually hurts my physically-- but that's a cultural bias that I have-- not a reflection on you. It's a very refreshingly clean mix, and is pleasurable to listen to in that respect. I enjoy the "clock" and "ran too quick" bit-- good fun. Your energy and enthusiasm is pleasant, too. Too "countryish" for my taste-- but a good song, taking my taste out of the picture.

Humbert:

it's a good song and well executed. too mainstream for my taste.

Lunkhead:

I really liked your previous song, it sounded like a Guster tune. This one doesn't do it for me as much. The faux country shtick doesn't thrill me, and the "her" has that country inflection that makes me ill. (I'm not a fan of that kind of country music.) Good lyrics, though, and the production is great.

Heuristics, Inc.:

Pretty catchy. clock? too quick! ha! Skip. Funny. I like the arrested/digested line. Great lyrics, good sound. Fun!
