Posted on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 I've been wanting to write a song about immigration for years, but I could never figure out how to tackle it. I finally got my thoughts down on paper and said exactly what I wanted to say. Enjoy. Simple arrangement here - just vocals, acoustic (in mono, for a sparser sound), a cello, and an electric (direct in, through Guitar Rig 3 for now). I'm using the stock preamps on my Onyx 400F for this, since my Aphex 1100 has been doing some annoying crackling on note fade-outs.
I've really been enjoying everything you've been putting out lately, but in my opinion anyway, this might be the best song you've ever written. The lyrics are powerful without being overbearing or "preachy," and the light arrangement is really effective. Amazing work.
This song is really stunning. The lyrics are beautiful and the sparse arrangement complements them perfectly. You are an exceptional lyricist and musician.

I've been paying overtime to my 1,000 monkeys on 1,000 typewriters, and I have to say, it's been worth it.
