MP3 CD?
Are you interested?
Yeah, I'd buy one. It's easier than downloading everything.
I'd download a BitTorrent.
Meh, the single-song MP3s and album .ZIP files are fine.

MP3 CD?
Posted on Fri, Mar 07 2008

Just curious - now that I'm pushing 150 songs available for download, I was wondering if there was a market for an option to buy a single CD with MP3s of all my albums (and maybe the new demos, too). Or maybe an official BitTorrent of the discography? What say you?

Torrents will keep your bandwidth down, and thereby keep costs down. I'm still wondering when you'll post a paypal acct to send $$$ to ;P

I'm not so much concerned with bandwidth - I have a dedicated server, and spit out 2.4 terabytes in December no problem. And I don't have a donations link because I'd rather have people help out by sharing my tunes with friends instead.

The goal on these is to make it easier to grab everything at once, and hopefully to encourage full-album listening, since I'm a sequence nut. :D

I like the idea of a torrent, especially since your a sequence nut. Hearing new demo's that way would always be cool too, so new tunes could be grouped together in an "album like way", without the trouble of releasing 7 albums or whatever you're up to by now. and remixed versions of old songs would be neat to hear as well!

The CD with all the music in it wouldn't do much for me, but a torrent would make downloading easier (not that it is especially difficult now, but still).

I went ahead and voted yes, although I'm completely fine with your work available via ZIP files. I like to get both the discs and the download files, just so I can get the artwork, yet I'm too impatient to wait for the cd's to come in the mail. ;-) Either way, I think it would be cool for you to release one huge ass mp3 cd with everything on it, just because.

Yes and Yes
I voted for the torrent because I want it more, but I'd buy a big CD, too. Hell yes.

I think that the bittorrent is a better option than an mp3 CD. If I'm gonna buy a CD, it needs to be able to play in a regular ol' CD player. And I'm considering buying the CD's too, for the artwork... >.>

I'd prefer to download music by the album or by the single. And if there is a torrent of all your songs, that torrent will get outdated (unless you can add files to an already existing torrent?!?) Actually, I vote for you to use Jamendo more (upload ALL of your albums), because the website allows users to download whole albums OR songs by zip or torrent. Less work for you if you just have to upload the songs once. Jamendo currently does not have a feature to download all songs at once by a specified author, but I'm sure they could add it if asked. They seem to be a responsive group of people.

I think its a great way to bundle your music. If you have such a package, that would sell much easier. I'd go for it.

Haha, it'd kind of be like "The Best of Josh Woodward - The Box Set". I'm down!

I vote for you to use Jamendo, to post torrents for each cd, to still keep the zip files, still keep on selling the regular cd's and I also vote for "The Best of Josh Woodward - The Box Set". It would have to include EVERYTHING and more because we can never get enough Josh Woodward. I have downloaded all your cd's and I'm gonna download everything else, where is the link to pay for what we already have got from you? btw, are you still printing your own CDRs? The fact that everything is handmade by you should be another reason to encourage people to buy the cds. p.d: nice vids on youtube!

Download or MP3 CD
The MP3s are great - it takes a little effort, but it's always worth it. Regardless of whether it is a CD or Torrent, I would happily pay for the availability of lossless files (flac, shn, ape) and CD Art.
