stopping blog spamming
Posted on Mon, Oct 13 2003 I've been getting a frustrating amount of blog spam as of late, so I decided to do something about it. These people want to increase their PageRank. They do so by leaving a link address in their post, which Google follows and increases their "juice". So what better way to stop them than by eliminating their incentive to do so?
Anonymous people can still leave their URL, but clicking it will now lead it through a redirecting script which uses Javascript to bounce them along to their site. Browsers will follow the link, Google will not. Combine that with a very obvious warning when posting a new message, and it's adios to our spam buddies. It's not even a program, it's just a couple lines of code in Entropy. :)
Josh Woodward - http://www.JoshWoodward.com/ Hello,
you should consider packaging this. I have a blog latino forum, I'm getting about 10 spams per day. I personally remove them. Yesterday, I had 16. All selling pharmacy and sex related. Thank You
