I use LR Baggs dual-source pickups on #1 and #2. The mix is probably about 95% pickup on the six string, and 90% pickup on the twelve string. I use Whirlwind IMP2 direct boxes. The only guitar strings I'd ever even consider using are Elixirs, and I use the light/medium set. The action is quite high on these, which allows me to detune them into oblivion. They're always kept down two half-steps, and most of my alternate tunings go even further down. I keep them vaguely in tune with the ubiquitous TU-2 chromatic tuner stompbox from Boss. I sometimes use a Boss RC20 loop pedal to do layered stuff.
