Winter Wonderland
Posted on Thu, Dec 23 2004

For once, the weather guy was right. We got pounded with a foot of snow over the last day. Hancock and Wood counties are both under a level three snow emergency for the first time in many years, and here in Hancock there's a blizzard warning. The photo doesn't really do justice to how deep the snow is, but there's about a foot of snow on average, and drifts are many feet high. I'll try to get better pictures later. It's a lovely day to be a work-from-home-er. :)

I've spent the morning spraying out all of the aerosol cans I can find. No result yet, but as soon as the Atlantic coast reaches Fostoria or so, we should have some progress. ;-)

Yes, I agree-- a great day to be a work from homer. Or, a bad day, if we wanted the day off. :) Although, I haven't had much work myself today, as I work for a hospital (transcription) in the Dayton area, and they seem to be pretty much closed down. They sent a lot of patients home before the holidays/snowstorm hit, and I'm guessing a lot of (non critical) surgeries and the like are being postponed today.

Hah, good point.

Yeah, from what I hear, Dayton got hit even worse than we did. Here's hoping that everyone stays home so that the hospital doesn't have a surge of patients coming in because of traffic accidents! :)

Haha!
Looks like you've got a white christmas coming.

/says the Guy from Buffalo originally.

Of course, it probably didn't make the national news because it's not Buffalo.

:-p

Haha!
Doesn't it take a winter day in Buffalo without a foot of snow to make national news?

Too Lazy to Shovel
Anybody from the VB area willing to lend me a snowblower once you're all done with it? Of course not, but I thought I'd ask. :) (I normally hate snowblowers, but with a foot in one night, to hell with annoying the whole town ;) )

Hah, I wish I had one. Sara was out at 5:30 shoveling the back sidewalk and driveway before she realized that we had a level 3 anyway.

They've been plowing Walnut Street like mad the last hour or so, and since it's such a wide street with no curb, there's about 5 feet of snow on top of our sidewalk. Even if I had a snowblower, I'd still be sitting inside drinking coffee in my pajamas. :)

Ha
Before I left work yesterday they informed me that if there was a Level Three Snow Emergency then they'd close down. Sure enough, I awake at 7am to find out that's what's going on.
At this very moment Larry has his John Deere 7210 Tractor equipped with plow and is kicking the snow's arse pretty badly in our driveway, not like we're actually going anywhere.

No kidding. I had to go out and do some shoveling this morning (I still live under my parents' roof, after all) and all the snow was right on the sidewalk (I actually live on Walnut too--2 or 3 houses down from you, I think). It's altogether useless. Even IF I shoveled a path through the snowbank on the sidewalk, the next pass or two by the plows would cover it all up. Frustrating, but as has been already said, nobody's going anywhere anyway.

Hah, small world. And if anyone needs to walk, they can use one of the 10 lanes on Walnut. :)

Lucky munhkins. Here in suburbs-of-Philly we're snowless. Just a lot of rain. We had a sprinkling of snow at the beginning of the week, but no White Christmas for us :( Enjoy it though! I expect to see a photo of a snowperson soon...

(Is the e-mail-reply-thingy new? Or am I just oblivious to change?)

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get dumped on soon enough!

And the e-mail-reply-thingy is new, yep. Very observant. :)
